The Leicester G&SLighters is a local amateur operatic society, alternating between the operettas of Gilbert and Sullivan and other musicals.

We rehearse on a weekly basis from September through to our show in March. For details of our current production, why not take a look at the link on the left?

Our stage is at Leicester's Little Theatre, in Dover Street.

Although you do not have to read music to join us, being able to 'sing in tune' is a must.
We will eventually need you to sing 'in parts' but we will give you all the necessary help to this end. An informal and private ear test may be needed to place you in the correct voice section but please don't let that put you off.
We feel that a professional attitude to the job in hand far outweighs the need to be good enough to be a contender in the 'X Factor' or the 'Cardiff Singer of the World'.

Membership fees are payable annually (usually by December) and currently amount to £70.00. This covers all the major outlay in kitting you out ready to perform on stage. These include the hire of your music and costumes.

The chorus draws members from in and around Leicestershire. At present we have around 35 playing members taking part in the current production, with more than 50 patrons and supporters of the Society.

If you enjoy being part of a hardworking team but feel that your place is behind the scenes, there are many other ways in which you can help the Society. During show week we need a Front of House team to sell programmes and welcome the audience. If you would like to be involved back stage, we need a props and prompt team as well as help with wardrobe.
